A portrait of the fashion designer Alice Temperley, taken at her parents farmhouse in Somerset last week. Interestingly her fathers runs the rather famous Somerset Cider Company, tasty.

One from the archives. I enjoy the way this photograph plays a little trick on the eye. Shot early last year with the very beautiful Lex
________
Here’s one of my favorite portraits from a recent shoot with Mrs Caitlin Moran.
_______
Artist Ruth Winding creates “gilded backgrounds of metallic leaf upon wood, overlaid with hand-painted detailing” and rather pretty they are to. Photographing highly reflective gold leaf using lights has its own complications. Much like photographing someone standing in front of a mirror, you must always remember kids: the angle of reflection is equal to the angle of incidence. A lot of time was spent getting the specular highlights on the canvas under control zzzzzzz.

A quick portrait commission for the Big Issue magazine, photographing their vendor Gerard who can be found down in Broadquay most weekdays.

We’re going to need a larger white background….

Another image of Emma from a the previous post and shoot.
________
I started a quick project last week based loosely around people and their stuff. This is one of the shots from a morning spent with Emma, the first subject.

I spent a few hours with a couple of pro-climbers Ben and Matt at the Climbing Centre in St Werburghs last week. The physiques and upper body strength on these guys is remarkable, they were both quite at home hanging on by their fingers with me shouting my favourite saying ‘just one more’ from the floor. I’m still editing the shots but this picture immediately stood out at showing off the exceptional muscle definition in Ben’s back.

This is Dave, he’s a safety specialist at Didcot B Power Station. Photographed for a recent N-Power commission. Didcot B is easily one of the most interesting locations I’ve shot at in the last year. An industrial behemoth straight out the seventies, very cool, although as Dave pointed out perhaps not so cool if you go to work there every day.

One of my recent portraits of Mr Bannatyne. I wanted the portrait to look sharp and business like. The backdrop is actually the back of an air conditioning unit that happened to fit the bill.
________
I’ve designed a new round of double sided a5 photography promo cards to send out to potential clients. This particular card features an image of the gymnast Rowena from my ‘Dismount’ project.
_______
Here’s a recent portrait of the acclaimed painter Jason Bowyer, photographed working in his studio in Kew for Artist & Illustrators magazine. It’s early in the year but Jason is already a strong contender for my annual ‘Artist with the largest piles of paint on a pallette’ award.

Mrs Jones was once caught out by Frank Skinner. Whilst reviewing a stand-up gig at a comedy club in West London Frank Skinner snatched the notes she’d been writing and read the not so flattering review of the warm-up act out to the audience. Mrs Jones isn’t a fan of Frank’s. As with the Jarvis Cocker story I didn’t get around to sharing the funny anecdote during the shoot.
